IVF Then and Now: 20 Years of Progress That Saves Time and Protects Hope

None

Every minute matters in fertility treatment. Two decades of advances in diagnostics, lab techniques and personalised care are helping patients reach treatment sooner and giving them the best possible chance of success.

Years ago, when couples struggled to conceive, their journey often began — and for a long time remained — with a gynaecologist. Basic examinations followed, along with recommendations to “wait a little longer” and sometimes months of uncertainty. Options were more limited, diagnostics were less comprehensive, and treatment often came later than patients wished.

Today, we know that in fertility treatment, every minute matters. Not because we want to rush anyone, but because we do not want to lose precious time where modern medicine can help faster, more accurately and with greater sensitivity.

This is particularly important because many people are choosing to start a family later in life, while female fertility naturally declines with age. Timely assessment and treatment can therefore play an essential role in achieving the best possible outcomes.

The journey to a baby has changed

Over the past 20 years, IVF treatment has changed significantly. At Reprofit, we now build our care on a comprehensive approach that includes gynaecological, genetic and immunological examinations, modern laboratory methods and an individual treatment plan. We have 20 years of experience, more than 28,000 babies born thanks to our care, and we provide treatment without unnecessary waiting times.

The patient journey is no longer about one examination and one universal solution. It begins with listening, continues with identifying the cause of infertility and may include:

  • fertility testing,
  • semen analysis,
  • hormonal profile,
  • genetic testing,
  • immunology.

All leading to treatment tailored to each couple’s needs. At Reprofit, we always aim to proceed from simpler methods to more advanced ones, so that the treatment makes sense medically and personally.

From hope alone to a more precise plan

In the past, IVF treatment was far less predictable. In the early 1990s, IVF success rates in the Czech Republic were approximately 5–10% per cycle. Since then, methods such as ICSI, extended embryo culture, vitrification, preimplantation genetic testing and gentler stimulation protocols have significantly improved what fertility treatment can offer.

Today, doctors and embryologists work with much more detailed information. They can select embryos more accurately, freeze embryos safely for future transfer and adapt treatment to the patient’s age, health condition and previous treatment history. At Reprofit, we achieve high treatment success rates — for example, 51.7% in IVF using own oocytes, 58.5% in IVF with donated oocytes, 62.6% in cryo-embryo transfers with donated embryos and 62% in IVF with PGS/PGT.

We are ready for international couples too

The journey to parenthood often crosses borders. At Reprofit, we welcome patients from the Czech Republic as well as from abroad, and we understand how important it is for them to feel safe, understood and in expert hands. We have helped patients from more than 90 countries, and thanks to our experienced team, modern technologies and well-established care system, we offer a standard comparable to leading fertility clinics across Europe.

For international couples, we provide not only medical expertise, but also human understanding. We speak their language, help them navigate every step of the treatment process and do our best to make each visit as smooth and stress-free as possible. Another important advantage is the more accessible cost of treatment — while maintaining high standards of expertise, technology and personal care.

Every story is different. That is why every treatment must be different too

Infertility is not just a diagnosis. It is a period filled with questions, expectations, hope and fear. We know that behind every test result there is a real person. A woman counting the days. A couple afraid of another disappointment. A family hoping to hear good news.

MUDr. Pavel Otevřel, Head Physician at the Brno clinic, adds:

“Over the years of working with couples from all over the world, we have learned that every journey to having a baby is different. That is why we listen, look for the most effective solution and do our best to support patients at every step of treatment. At Reprofit, we want to be a clinic that stands strong among European fertility centres — through our expertise, technology and human approach. Most importantly, we want to be a place that helps couples from around the world fulfil their dream of having a family.”

That is why, for us, treatment is never only about technology. It is about the time we take to explain. About a plan patients can understand. About support in moments when treatment feels difficult. And about doing everything we can to make the journey to a baby shorter — without unnecessary delays, but with respect for each couple’s individual pace.

We know that having someone to answer questions, explain each step and offer support can make the treatment journey feel more manageable.

Modern IVF is no longer one universal procedure. It is a carefully planned journey from the first conversation through precise diagnostics to treatment that combines experience, science and a truly human approach.

“Because with us, every minute matters. And above all, every story matters.”
