What is IVF with Donor Eggs?

IVF with donor eggs is an assisted reproduction method that offers a solution for couples facing fertility issues. It allows women who cannot use their own eggs to achieve their desired pregnancy through donated eggs. In this process, eggs from carefully selected donors are fertilized with the partner's sperm under strictly controlled laboratory conditions.

How Does IVF Treatment with Donor Eggs Work?

Contact Us

By phone or online

Contact us via the web form, email, or phone. Our coordinator will then schedule a free consultation with a doctor – either at one of our clinics or online. You will also be asked to fill out a health questionnaire. This will help our doctor prepare for your consultation and propose the best treatment strategy. If you have already undergone tests such as hormone levels (AMH, TSH, prolactin), ultrasound of the uterine cavity, and semen analysis, please attach them to the questionnaire.

Consultation and Donor

Selection at the clinic or online

When selecting an egg donor, we strive to match your preferences as closely as possible. We consider weight, height, hair, eye color, and education level. We also try to ensure the donor's blood type matches one of the partners.

Treatment Plan + Synchronization of Cycle with Donor

4-6 weeks

If you choose fresh embryo transfer, the doctor will propose a treatment that synchronizes your menstrual cycle with the donor's cycle so that you are ready for embryo transfer at the right time. Preparation for transfer also includes hormonal treatment to prepare your uterine lining for embryo implantation.

Donor Oocyte and Partner Sperm Collection

Usually, on the 10th-12th day of stimulation, you should undergo an ultrasound to measure the endometrial thickness either at Reprofit or with your gynecologist. On the day of the donor's egg retrieval, your partner must be present at the clinic to provide the sperm needed for fertilization (unless you want to use stored frozen sperm). On the same day, a blood sample will be taken from him to test for sexually transmitted diseases.

Fertilization

5 - 6 days

In our embryology laboratory, we fertilize the donor eggs with the partner's sperm and carefully monitor the embryos for 5-6 days before transferring them to the uterus.

Who Are Our Donors?

Donors are young women up to 32 years of age. At our clinic, we only use eggs from young, healthy donors and never use surplus eggs from our patients. To be included in the program, a donor must meet strict criteria set by European guidelines. Donors are often students or mothers on maternity leave. None of them are treated for infertility, and egg donation is their voluntary decision. Egg donation is completely anonymous by law in the Czech Republic. It is not allowed for the donor to know the recipient or vice versa.

Donors are most often students or mothers on maternity leave. None of them are treated for infertility, and egg donation is their voluntary decision. Egg donation is completely anonymous by law in the Czech Republic. It is not allowed for the donor to know the recipient or vice versa.

All donors are tested at the time of donation in accordance with European tissue legislation and recommendations from professional societies (ESHRE, Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics SLG ČLS JEP). In addition to gynecological and ultrasound examinations, donors repeatedly undergo tests for sexually transmitted diseases (HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and syphilis) and must take a substance abuse test.

Donors also consult with a clinical geneticist and undergo genetic testing according to the current recommendation of the Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics SLG ČLS JEP. We newly use a carrier test platform for genetic testing, which helps us reduce the risk of transmitting genetically conditioned diseases to the child. For all newly enrolled donors, we use a carrier test to exclude serious genetic mutations such as cystic fibrosis, spinal muscular atrophy, deafness, and others. The carrier test also allows us to use extended screening options in the case of a genetic burden in a specific infertile couple and to continuously expand the spectrum of genetic tests for donors as genetic knowledge advances.

Additional tests as needed by the recipients are not included in the treatment cost and must be paid for separately (e.g., Tay-Sachs, FRAX, and others).

What Guarantees and Programs Do We Provide?

In IVF treatment with donor eggs, we guarantee 2 high-quality embryos (3AB or better) - based on the doctor's evaluation of the sperm analysis - is deemed good.

  • If only one high-quality embryo is available after fertilization, a 40% discount on treatment will be offered (assuming good sperm quality as assessed by the doctor).
  • If no embryos are obtained after fertilization (assuming good sperm quality as assessed by the doctor), we will offer the next treatment free of charge. Medication costs for the treatment cycle are not included in the treatment price.

If a donor-related error occurs (e.g., not taking medication, becoming ill, stopping stimulation), we will select a new donor for you to meet your requirements as much as possible and continue treatment without interruption, or we will offer the next available date.

Thanks to our sophisticated donor program, you will always have the option to choose an appropriate anonymous donor that closely matches your phenotype (height, weight, eye color, hair color).

Examination and selection of donors are conducted according to Czech and European legislation and strict criteria set by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).

This program is for women up to 46 years old without a medical history affecting their chances of conceiving, who are undergoing their first cycle of IVF treatment with donor eggs at Reprofit, have a normal finding in the uterus and urogenital tract, and whose partner has a normal sperm analysis. If you inform us in advance of your wish for all your children born from IVF treatment with donor eggs to have the same genetic origin, we will find a suitable donor for you and store her eggs in our cryobank for your future treatment.
