Female fertility testing

Are you concerned about your fertility, planning a family in the future, or having trouble getting pregnant? Don't leave your questions unanswered – at Reprofit, we will advise you with understanding and help you find the best solution. Because time, especially after the age of 35, plays an important role. Don't hesitate to find out where you stand.

Female fertility testing

Who should undergo fertility testing?

If you suspect infertility, this test is particularly important. It helps to identify the cause of the problem and, based on the results, suggest the most appropriate treatment. Sometimes, a small adjustment to hormonal imbalance or minor surgery is all it takes to achieve natural conception. Other times, the path to pregnancy is more difficult and complicated. We always strive to provide you with maximum support.

Fertility testing is also useful for women who are not yet planning to have children. It can reveal potential problems and allow them to be addressed in a timely manner, thereby increasing the chances of future pregnancy. For example, a lower egg reserve may mean that postponing pregnancy is not ideal. Conversely, removing polyps can make conception easier. The examination also opens up the possibility of social freezing – freezing eggs if you are planning to start a family after the age of 35.

The most common causes of female infertility

There are a number of causes that can affect female fertility. The most common include:

Ovarian dysfunction and other hormonal disorders

Absent or irregular menstruation are signs of dysfunction of the ovaries, pituitary gland, central nervous system, or thyroid gland. In rare cases, premature ovarian failure may occur.

Endometriosis

In this disease, tissue similar to the uterine lining is found outside the uterine cavity (e.g., in the ovaries, uterine muscle, intestines). This condition can cause adhesions and create a hostile environment in the abdominal and uterine cavities, which interferes with the chance of fertilization of the egg by sperm. At the same time, it can negatively affect the implantation of the embryo in the uterus.

Fallopian tube obstruction

Fallopian tube obstruction, most often caused by inflammation, prevents the egg from meeting the sperm and thus prevents fertilization of the egg. Read more about our one-day gynecological surgery.

Genetic and immunological causes

Certain variations in the genetic information encoded in DNA are associated with infertility. Our immune system may be pathologically focused, for example, against our own eggs or sperm, and may interfere with the process of fertilization and embryo implantation. Read more about how we can help you in this section.

Uterine factor

Congenital uterine malformations (e.g., uterine septum, bicornuate uterus) can sometimes reduce the chances of becoming pregnant or cause miscarriage.

Acquired pathologies (polyps, adhesions after uterine cavity revisions, fibroids) can also sometimes complicate pregnancy or lead to miscarriage.

Age and lifestyle

Unfortunately, postponing pregnancy until later in life reduces the number and quality of eggs due to their natural decline. The critical age limit is 35. Factors such as stress, smoking, being overweight, or lack of exercise can also negatively affect fertility.

Examination before infertility treatment

Assessing fertility before starting treatment is a key step in understanding the cause of infertility and choosing the most appropriate treatment. At Reprofit, we approach diagnosis as a gradual process that leads to finding the optimal solution for each couple. We focus only on what you really need to get pregnant – nothing more, nothing less.

In some cases, the cause of infertility can be easily identified, while in others, more extensive testing is necessary. By combining all the results, we are able to determine the optimal treatment plan. Currently, we are able to help up to 95% of couples who turn to us.

How is female fertility tested?

Initial consultation

The initial consultation is a key step in understanding your situation. During the consultation, the doctor will review your medical history, including the regularity of your menstrual cycle, any illnesses you have had, surgical procedures, or medications you are taking. This information is used to create a plan for further examinations and possible treatment.

Ultrasound examination

Ultrasound is a non-invasive method that provides a detailed view of the reproductive organs. The doctor will assess:

- the shape and size of the uterus, and the possible presence of pathology

- the quality and thickness of the uterine lining, which is important for embryo implantation

- the condition of the ovaries, including follicle growth, the presence of cysts, or signs of endometriosis.

Blood sampling

Blood tests may not always be necessary, but sometimes they help to assess hormone levels and other factors affecting fertility.

Methods of testing female fertility

This is a simple and short examination using ultrasound and a foamy contrast agent, which is introduced into the uterus. Its passage through the fallopian tubes is then monitored. The examination is performed on an outpatient basis. If the test reveals fallopian tube obstruction, IVF may be recommended as the only effective treatment method.

Repeated miscarriages or unsuccessful IVF cycles may indicate genetic causes of infertility. At Reprofit, we offer:

  • Karyotype analysis: this method detects chromosomal abnormalities, such as extra or missing chromosomes.
  • Detailed genetic testing: this helps identify hereditary factors that may affect conception or embryo development. Genetic testing is appropriate not only in cases of recurrent miscarriage, but also in cases of unexplained infertility. The information obtained allows us to propose treatment tailored to your situation and the possible need for preimplantation diagnosis (genetic testing of the embryo before it is transferred to the uterus).

Hysteroscopy is a key method for examining and treating abnormalities inside the uterine cavity. During procedures, we use state-of-the-art miniaturized instruments such as shavers or mini-resectoscopes, which allow for the gentle removal of polyps, fibroids, and adhesions without damaging the surrounding tissue—often without the need for general anesthesia. We have the right tool for every pathological finding.

How much does female fertility testing cost?

The cost of non-covered examinations depends on what tests and treatment are necessary in your case. At Reprofit, we pride ourselves on transparency and an individual approach, because we know that every story is different. Our specialists will be happy to explain everything to you in a clear manner – from financing options to recommendations for the most suitable procedure. Most examinations are non-invasive or minimally uncomfortable. For example, ultrasound examinations or blood tests are completely routine and painless. Some specialized procedures, such as hysteroscopy, may be performed under anesthesia for maximum patient comfort.

The results of most tests, such as hormone profiles or ultrasounds, are available immediately or within a few days. For more complex tests, such as genetic testing, the analysis may take several weeks. Your doctor will inform you of the exact time frame during your consultation.
